Multimedia in Africa

For six months, Heather volunteered in Cameroon where she taught multimedia and worked as the social media coordinator for the Washington, DC-based NGO Youth Advocacy Network. She created the multimedia curriculum and supervised video and podcast projects on topics including child labor, the gender gap in Sub-Saharan Africa, human trafficking in Cameroon. All of the work was produced by students between the ages of 13-17, whom prior to her arrival had little exposure to computers.
She also taught computer literacy to teachers and published a blog that was listed as one of the “Best 50 International Teaching Blogs” by onlineschooling.net.
